West Coast Wildlife Cruise - from Craobh Haven |
 |
|
Join
Argyll Sundowner as she explores the marine wildlife and natural
environment within the Firth of Lorn a maritime European Special Area
of Conservation and a Scottish National Scenic Beauty Area. It's also a
candidate for Scotland's first Coastal and Marine National Park.
See Common and Atlantic Grey seals, porpoises and occasionally dolphins
playing in the boats wake. Look out for Red and Fallow Deer on the
Island of Scarba and Sea Eagles in the cliffs or soaring above the
island.
Marvel at the cliff-edge waterfalls and other stunning natural features
of the islands in this area and pass by the famous lighthouse on Fladda
now automatic but once home to a lighthouse keeper.
When the tidal and weather conditions are right well pass through the
Gulf of Corryvreckan crossing the whirlpools at slack water. When the
Gulf is roaring well admire this treacherous stretch of water from a
safe distance.
You'll also enjoy champagne and canaps at anchor in a quiet bay -
perhaps within the Gulf itself - and we'll have you back ashore in time
for a late lunch.
Departure: 10.00 Return: 14.00
Cost: £49 inclusive of drinks, canaps, hot beverages etc.
This cruise operates on Wednesday and Thursday during the summer. At
other times by arrangement. It is also a popular option for a private
charter and can be extended to include lunch on board at anchor (15
extra per head) and an additional two hours cruising time. |
Crinan via the Garvellachs - from Craobh Haven |
 |
|
Avoid
the winding road south by car and let Argyll Sundowner take the
historic sea route to Crinan. This cruise takes you to the natural
harbour at the entrance to the Crinan Canal, which is also the location
for the Crinan Hotel one of Scotlands most scenic hotels. We can tie
up at Crinan to give you time to explore the Canal Basin or to enjoy
lunch ashore at the Crinan Hotel, but if the sun is shining we might
have lunch on board enjoying the marvellous views out towards the Sound
of Jura and the islands of Scarba and Mull.
On the return journey we pass close by the Garvellach Islands. The
early Christian community that once lived on the island is long gone
but some interesting ruins remain.
Depart: 10.00 Return: 16.00 (all departure times are dependent on tides and weather conditions).
Cost: 64 per person- inclusive of lunch ashore or onboard, drinks, canaps, landing fees as appropriate. |
